Watsonville soldier killed in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON — A Fort Hood soldier was killed during combat operations in Afghanistan this week, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.

Cpl. Bernard P. Corpuz, 28, of Watsonville, Calif., died in Ghazni, Afghanistan, on Sunday, when his convoy came under enemy small arms fire and an improvised explosive device detonated, the department said.

Corpuz was assigned to the 303rd Military Intelligence Battalion, 504th Military Intelligence Brigade at Fort Hood, Texas.
